It is always such a joy and privilege for us here at McKinnon to work with our wonderful student body, and we are very happy to hear from our graduates.
The following letters are from former students who have kindly agreed to let us share their experience at McKinnon with others:
Hello,
I took massage classes at McKinnon throughout spring and summer 2007. I worked in a handful of different spas in San Francisco and then moved down to Santa Barbara where I am also working as a full-time massage therapist. The more people I touch, the more massages I myself receive and the more I get to know other therapists and their work, the more grateful I am that I learned my first steps in bodywork in the quiet, compassionate, consistent atmosphere of McKinnon. I feel happy and priviledged that I got to learn so much from Lesley, Jason, Doug, Valerie and, especially, Carl. I feel like I integrated and took with me a certain approach to bodywork that is present with me every time that I touch a client. I would and do recommend McKinnon as a massage school to everyone interested in bodywork with all my heart. Thank you so much again and best luck with everything. A.M.
Dear McKinnon Institute,
this is a perfect opportunity to express my sincere appreciation to Mr. Frederick Lewis for his excellent professionalism as a teacher. I would also like to acknowledge the McKinnon Institute for its vision and the wisdom to staff such quality instructors. In addition, your school provides a very comfortable learning environment that supports the journey students have to make in order to become healers and competent professionals. The chair massage class was infused with a bank of relevant information. The hands-on instructions were very clear and consicely presented. Students had sufficient opportunity to apply the lessons by working on each other, accompanied with the kind of guidance and attention to further our understanding. The instructions emphasized deepening the students' skill levels while adding tools/techniques as they effectively apply to working with clients in the context of a chair massage.
It's also important for me to bring attention to the huge contribution of entrepreneurial information that was illuminated in this class. The value of bringing into the classroom the experience of years of professional business knowledge, along with the personal stories of how those challenges were met can't be over estimated!
I am very happy to have walked away from this class with not only what I hoped for, but with a surprising enthusiasm towards the adventure of doing business in the massage profession. And finally I want to acknowledge that this class aroused my genuine interest in continuing my education as a bodyworker. Thank you for this opportunity! M.P.
